Purpose of Suffering
Bible Text: 1 Peter 4:1-11Series: 1 Peter, Suffering
Suffering happens to us all, but why? Jesus never said that the Christian life would be a bed of rose, in fact if one really looks closely at the Bible Jesus Christ says just the opposite. He talks about the world hating us, not because of us, but because they do not like Him therefore they do not like us. They will persecute you because of him. But suffering goes even further than that, without suffering there would be no way for you to grow within your faith. As a child you fall, you got up tried again, fall again, and did it all over. That is suffering we don’t think about it but it is – in the same way Christians must go through trials in life to grow in the faith and walk with God. Look at 1 Corinthians 10:13, God does not give us more than we can handle and always gives us a way out that is through Him (Paraphrased).
Peter wants his reads to understand that there is a purpose for suffering and what suffering is all about and that is what this chapter is about. In this two part series we will learn about:
The Purpose of Suffering – 1 Peter 4:1-11
